Not knowing what we didnt know sure didnt stop Benchmark agent Jennifer Spergl from taking on one of the most challenging projects of a lifetime the annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway resulting in Nashvilles first fully-funded home project.

Held annually in the Middle Tennessee area, a new home is built and given away via a raffle ticket system live on WZTV Fox 17. The first area campaign started in 2004 and has become one of the largest in the country raising more than $11 million for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.

This year St. Jude selected a new builder and neighborhood for the dream home experience including developers Trillium Farms, who donated the land in Ladd Park, builder, Hillside Homes, and Benchmark agent, Spergl.

It was a major undertaking having a new project team for this comprehensive process, and, we were all so committed from the beginning to do everything we could to help the children receiving care at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, Spergl said.

Tireless in her efforts, a fully-funded project means from the huge donation of the land and building to the regular mowing of the grass, everything was donated resulting in a net-zero home with no expenses delivered to St. Jude.A total of $1.5 million was raised in ticket sales with additional fundraising paying for the building expenses including permits!

Located off Peytonsville Road in east Williamson County, it was a big plus that Ladd Park is close to I-65, with the South Carothers Extension beginning soon, and located in a beautiful rural setting with 240 acres of common area and over nine miles of walking trails.

The real heroes are the builder, developer, subcontractors, suppliers and vendors who donated product, services and shared their time and talents to make this project a reality, Spergl said

Spergl has been an agent for almost 25 years and part of the Benchmark team for almost three years.

There was no way I could have done this without the support of Benchmark. Company CEO Phillip Cantrell was so gracious to donate office space to St. Jude. In the final push, we sold out ten minutes prior to the deadline and so many agents helped spread the word to help sell these final tickets. The last day, last hour, last second - it was definitely a combined effort, Spergl said.

Her top three outstanding moments of the project were:

1) Ladd Park, Hillside Builders and Spergls team being chosen by St. Jude.

2) Knowing we were going to be fully funded the first week of June. The home giveaway was June 23.

3) Selling out of tickets 10 minutes before deadline!
