Benchmark Realty agent Kristen Holscher has been using social media to expand her business for years. She does it because she enjoys staying connected with others, and in business terms, it pays off.
In the last two years, probably 50 percent of my business was because of connections with people using social media, she said.
Holscher uses Twitter, has a board on Pinterest and has communicated with others photographically via Instagram. But, Facebook has proven to be the most useful social site for connecting with others.
With a personal page on FB with more than 1,500 friends,Holscher posts and shares links on a wider variety of subjects not limited to real estate. She has found her personal page to be more effective than a FB business page.
Facebook helps you connect to new friends and re-connect with old friends and it helps you to stay in contact with people, she said.
She posts news about her listings, as well as links to articles about mortgage rates, home maintenance and renovating.
Whenever she posts something related to real estate, Holscher is reminding her FB friends and Twitter followers that she is someone who could help them buy a new house, or sell the one they already have.
Friends and family, they sometimes kind of forget what you do. But you cant just be all about business or all about yourself and what you do for a living. I do think you have to reach out to people youve had a past with or that you have been connected with, including your church, family, and old friends, friends of friends, Holscher said. Its going to take a little time, but its definitely worth it, she said. You just cant afford to be shy about asking somebody to be your friend.
On Instagram, Holscher has posted pictures of her listings or interesting photos of home dcor and renovation.
With Pinterest, she has posted photos of a home renovation project or stories which would interest her friends and real estate clients.
Holscher is a native of Franklin who now resides in Nashville. She has been in residential real estate for seven years, concentrating her business in Williamson and Davidson counties. For more info, check out her website, Nashville Connected, and here on Twitter and Pinterest.
