When you work in a traditional real estate office, you’re often trapped at a desk between four walls. Sure, that’s how our parents did it, and their parents before then—but studies increasingly suggest that being tethered to an office actually damages productivity.

What can you do to increase your work output so you have more free time to enjoy with friends and family?
Figure Out When You’re Most Productive
Some of us are most productive between 8 a.m. and noon; others don’t hit their stride until mid-afternoon. You’ll have to experiment a little to determine when you’re most productive, but once you find that “sweet spot,” run with it. Use your off-peak hours for tasks that don’t require laser-sharp focus.
Don’t Hide Your “To-Do” List
Keeping your calendar open (and in a place where you can see it) will help remind you that you’re in “work mode.” Try to minimize other visual distractions before you dive in. If there’s something that will nag you while you’re working, handle it prior to getting started.
Allow Yourself the Luxury of Breaks
One of the biggest benefits of working remotely is that you can take a breather when you need to. Don’t force yourself to work when you just can’t make things “click.” Instead, step away from your work for a few minutes. Stretch, have a snack, open your favorite social media account and make a few posts; switching gears can help you re-focus and get more done.
